The railway bridge over the Poprad River forms part of the project Modernisation of the Žilina – Košice Railway Line, Section Liptovský Mikuláš – Poprad-Tatry, Phase 1. The new bridge carries a double-track railway line designed for train speeds of up to 160 km/h.
The bridge consists of two separate steel superstructures with a ballasted deck, each track being supported by an individual steel plate girder structure. The steel structure was fabricated in assembly segments, with both workshop and site joints executed by welding to ensure high precision, structural integrity and long-term reliability.
The completed bridge meets current requirements for safe and efficient railway operation while contributing to increased capacity and the modernisation of one of Slovakia’s key railway corridors.
