The Orechovský Potok Floodplain project forms part of the development of a recreational area in Orechové, a district of Trenčín known for its peaceful residential character and abundant greenery. The district derives its name from the walnut groves that historically shaped the area. Thanks to its convenient access to the city center and proximity to recreational zones, Orechové is an attractive location for both living and leisure activities.
The aim of the project was to improve accessibility and connectivity between the Orechovský Potok floodplain and the existing network of pedestrian and cycling routes. The new footbridge provides a safe connection between the Váh River embankment and the planned natural park, creating new opportunities for recreation for residents and visitors alike.
The main structure consists of a steel footbridge supported by reinforced concrete abutments on both banks. The project also includes gabion retaining walls, a staircase, and access pathways constructed from concrete and paving blocks. The bridge deck is made of durable black locust (acacia) timber, ensuring both longevity and a natural appearance that blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.
Our company was responsible for the fabrication, installation, and erection of the steel structure with a total weight of approximately 14 tonnes. The completed bridge provides a modern and aesthetically pleasing connection between urban recreational routes, the natural park, and the cycling trail “By Bicycle in the Footsteps of History”, while respecting the character of the surrounding environment.
