The reconstruction of the bridge connecting the Ostrov area in Trenčín focused on modernizing the transport infrastructure, improving traffic safety, and enhancing conditions for pedestrians and cyclists. The main objective of the project was to widen the roadway, increase the bridge’s traffic capacity, and construct new steel walkways for pedestrians and cyclists. The steel structures of the walkways also serve as a supporting system for utility networks.
The reconstruction included strengthening the load-bearing structure of the reinforced concrete girder bridge using external prestressing cables and additional shear reinforcement. The works also involved correcting permanent deflections of the bridge structure, replacing bearings, renewing the roadway surface including waterproofing, and upgrading the drainage system through composite continuous curb drainage channels.
As part of the project, new safety barriers, railings, and lighting poles were installed, contributing to greater safety and comfort for all road users. The completed reconstruction resulted in a modern bridge structure that meets current requirements for traffic capacity, safety, and long-term operational reliability.
