The roofing of the stands at the National Football Stadium is characteristically divided according to the cardinal directions into the north, east, west, and south stands. The steel structures of the south and east stands are structurally identical. The north stand structure is positioned at a lower level to avoid shading adjacent residential buildings. The west stand structure is supported by the load-bearing reinforced concrete roof structure. The primary structural system for all stands consists of cantilevers. The cantilever projections vary depending on the type of stand. The cantilevers are designed as truss systems anchored into reinforced concrete structures. The total weight of the steel structure is 1,650 tonnes.
