Fabrication and installation of the steel structure of the Morava River Footbridge, including the access road within the Mikulčice–Kopčany Archaeological Park
The bridge structure is designed as a slender steel construction with a composite reinforced concrete orthotropic deck slab. The total length of the load-bearing structure is 140.0 m (approach span 24.35 m – arch section 91.35 m – approach span 24.35 m). The structure is a Langer girder system consisting of a pair of truss parapet girders, each stiffened by a steel arch and steel hangers. The bridge has a closed configuration with a bottom deck. The railing is formed by the main girders with cable infill and has a height of 1300 mm. The arch section of the steel structure is 91.3 m long with a weight of 204 tons. Installation works required a 35-ton crane for fabrication elements, an 80-ton crane for the approach spans, and a 750-ton crawler crane for lifting the pre-assembled 91.3 m main section (217 tons), positioned on a reinforced area on the Kopčany side near the Morava River.
